December 2017 OASIS Updates

MyiLibrary Customers: Ordering Has Transferred to Ebook Central

The first step of your migration to Ebook Central is now complete! You should now purchase your ebooks from Ebook Central, either via Coutts (using OASIS, EDI or email) or the LibCentral administrative module on Ebook Central. You can no longer place MyiLibrary orders.

How to access your MyiLibrary owned titles

Your MyiLibrary account will remain active until the second step of your upgrade--migration of MyiLibrary owned titles to Ebook Central--is complete.

Any titles you purchased on MyiLibrary are still available to your users. They can continue to access them on MyiLibrary or find them through discovery services such as Summon, Primo, EDS and WorldCat.

How to access Ebook Central

  • Previous EBL/ebrary customers: You already have Ebook Central and LibCentral accounts and can use them to place orders, either via Coutts (using OASIS, EDI or email) or the LibCentral administrative module on Ebook Central.
  • New to Ebook Central? Your LibCentral credentials will be the same as they are now on MyiLibrary.

We hope you enjoy Ebook Central! If you have any questions, contact our support team.

New Enhancements to OASIS - November 2017

Over the past year the OASIS team has been working on some exciting changes to the OASIS site.  We are pleased to introduce the first phase of improvements to the OASIS User Interface.  In this phase, we focused on making title selection and acquisition quicker and more intuitive – simplifying bulk actions with check boxes and reducing clicks by up to 50%.

Before making these changes “live” in OASIS, we want to give you some time to familiarize yourself with the new improved actions and workflows. Starting on November 15th, 2017, you will have access to an OASIS “Play Site”. This play site has the new features and you can use this site to train yourself and your team. On Monday, December 4th, 2017, these features will become available in the live OASIS site. Users will begin seeing these changes on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017.

  • Click here for OASIS “Play Site” https://oasis-play.proquest.com/
  • Please use your current username and password to log in
  • This Play Site mirrors your OASIS set up and configuration but any actions you take in this site will not be carried over to your OASIS account. This site is for training purposes only
  • For additional information and training guides, please review our Lib Guide: http://proquest.libguides.com/oasis/newcheckboxes

Key Dates

  • November 15th:  Play period starts
  • November 15th to December 3rd : Play period
  • NOTE: On November 18th, ProQuest will be carrying out some necessary maintenance on the OASIS system.  So, any lists created or other activities carried out in the “play site” between November 15th and 18th may be overwritten.
  • December 4th: Feature available in OASIS. December 5th: Feature visible to Users on OASIS.

Any questions – please contact coutts-oasisfeedback@proquest.com

Attention MyiLibrary Customers

Please note that as of November 30, you should no longer place orders for MyiLibrary titles. You can, however, use OASIS or Ebook Central to order Ebook Central titles. This is Step 1 of your upgrade from MyiLibrary to Ebook Central. This Step 1 will take place between November 30 through December 15, so you should be prepared to no longer place orders as of November 30.

Key points about Step 1:

  • There is no action you must take for Step 1 to occur.
  • Your purchased MyiLibrary titles are still available for your users – they will continue to be able to find ebooks through discovery services such as Summon, Primo, EDS, and WorldCat and access any ebooks you have purchased on MyiLibrary. Your MyiLibrary account will remain active until Step 2 of your upgrade is complete.
  • If you were an EBL and/or ebrary customer, you already have Ebook Central and LibCentral accounts and can use these existing accounts to place orders.
  • If you are new to Ebook Central as a result of your upgrade, your LibCentral (Ebook Central’s administrative module) credentials will be the same as they are now on MyiLibrary.  We will provide instructions for how to access your Ebook Central account as Step 1 approaches completion.

February 2017 OASIS Update

February OASIS updates - ebook titles available for Access-to-Own (ATO) now visible in OASIS.

ProQuests Access-to-Own (ATO) model is a unique usage-based acquisition model for ebooks where all spend contributes towards ownership, thus allowing the customers to control budget while potentially providing access to a wider pool of titles.  This new model has been developed for research institituions and academic libraries that:

  • Want to use usage-based (evidence-based or DDA) purchasing
  • Who desire frontlist and backlist quality content in their library collections
  • Prefer to spend collection funds on ownership rather than access
The ATO model is available via ProQuests via Ebook Central platform.

OASIS users are able to see which ebook titles are vailable for ATO in OASIS and compare that information to other ebook platforms in the Alternate Formats tab.

For additional ATO information and OASIS screenshots click here to access the OASIS Help Portal.
October OASIS Updates

    • Libraries can set up an Awards profile to ensure receipt of books that win specific awards.
    • Users can search for a publisher collection/package and view titles or block them from a search if the title is already owned so they can avoid purchasing titles already in their holdings.

OASIS Enhancements and Fixes Released on March 1, 2016

The latest installment of enhancements and fixes to OASIS was released on March 1, 2016 and includes the following:

  1. An enhancement to the Firm/Approval Orders search feature.  This has been split into two tabs, clarifying the difference between order and invoice searches. Order status settings now include Open, Fulfilled, and Cancelled options, all selected by default.  Below is a screenshot of this enhancement (to view a larger screenshot go to the Help Portal):

First tab is for searching orders:

Second tab is for searching invoices:

The Help Portal section for Search Orders/Invoices (available in the A-Z List) has also been updated.

We have removed the reference to ‘Other Electronic Book’.  OASIS no longer indexes or outputs eBooks that can't be purchased through OASIS.  This was previously displayed as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. For books available through OASIS which the library is not licensed, the language has been clarified to read e.g. "Ebook available via Ebook Central [and/or other platform]. Contact library administrator for licensing status."

  1. The "In Library Holdings" call-out in the browse row now indicates the format held by the library.

Welcome to OASIS Version 5!

Detailed information about all OASIS functions and features is available in the A-Z Index.
