Claiming and Cancelling Orders

Open up the Order History page, highlight the title you wish to claim or cancel.  Then, use the "Order Status" tab in the lower screen to claim/cancel the order.  You can pull up a list of all open orders by choosing the "Open Orders" option from the Period drop-down box.

The Order Status tab is where you can find the Claim and Cancel buttons, as well as up-to-date information about the status of the title.

Below are several examples of the type of information you may see in the Order Status tab.

 

 

Claim & Cancel Parameters

Claim
1) Claim is not allowed if the publisher has sent the book.
2) For RUSH orders claim is not allowed if the order is less than 7 days old.  For normal orders claim is not allowed if the order is less than 30 days old.
3) Claim is not allowed if the customer has received a status report (claiming code) that is less than 30 days old.
4) If the customer has received a status report which forward dates the expected date of publication do not allow a claim until the publication date.
 
Cancel
1) Cancel not allowed if the publisher has sent the book.
2) Cancel not allowed if the book has been prepaid.
3) Cancel not allowed if the book is from a publisher which will not allow returns.  However, once the order reaches a certain age it can be canceled  based on the supplier division.  For UK SUPPLIER DIVISION allow cancel if the order is over 30 days old.  For the rest of the world allow cancel if the order is over 60 days old.
4) Cancel not allowed if specific claiming codes are attached to the order
